UndoClose Review - SmartClose
SmartClose is an application software download free Windows that automates the process of closing all running programs, disabling the screen saver and halting all other processes, before saving the current state to a'system snapshot'. It can be used later to restore the system to that same state, allowing you to start all closed applications again.
It also stops and restarts Windows services, including the Task Scheduler, that can interrupt a task. Its interface is deceptively simple, with a five-icon interface that uses tooltips to explain the program’s operation.
What makes this app stand out is its ability to quickly and cleanly close all programs, while restoring them in seconds. It also comes with a handy option to delete the running processes, as well as a list of 'Protected Programs' that won't be automatically killed by SmartClose.
In our tests, SmartClose worked very well, handling the majority of processes it encountered with no problems. It was also rare that it could not stop a process; in those cases, it invoked SmartKill to finish off the task.
When you install new software or need to use the full processing power of your computer, many installers will require that you close all other running applications before they can be started. If you don't have SmartClose installed, this can make the installation process a bit more difficult.
Unlike Close All, SmartClose can reopen any recently closed folders or applications. Its interface shows the path and window title of each program and lets you change the hotkey for reopening them with just a few clicks.
